I've been working so hard the past few days, but today I had fun. I was planning to work tonight, but (surprise surprise) I just cannot focus. What do you tell yourself when you just have to buckle down and do it, whatever it is?

Ugh, thats a hard one. I have some music I listen to (arcana) which sometimes helps me shut out the rest of the world enough to not get distracted. I try to seclude myself from anything interesting, which often effectively bores me into starting--and once the starting part has happened, the continuing part is at least easier. Sometimes I let myself play for a little bit, but give myself a limit--or motivate myself by promising myself rewards or breaks if I do such and such amount of work.

I guess it depends on the kind of work. If its reading, I make myself take notes sometimes, which will make me pay attention enough to internalize it. If its writing, I usually bore myself into starting.

Sometimes scare tactics work on myself. There's nothing like fire under your butt to make you get moving. : P

Is there anything more odious to do? If you start doing that, then homework might seem a bit more doable.

*hugs!* good luck!!! Im sorta in the same boat as you--so much work to do and so very little ability to focus...

Ill see you soon... speaking of which, how are you getting home? If you bart to berkeley again I'd probably be able to give you a ride. I'd want to leave sunday eveningish. Keep me posted!
