May. 22nd, 2007 11:45 pmSometimes I think it would be really fun if there were an oekaki board for essays.
If I selected the "animate" feature, you could all watch me write, forming sentences from disconnected phrases and rearranging ideas arbitrarily. You could see that I rely wayyy too heavily on the thesaurus, and that I spastically save, every time I type three words or stare at the page for thirty seconds, whichever happens first. You could watch and cringe, wondering if this time I will attempt to appease Word and its mindless underlining of things that are actually fine or if I'll just turn the damn checker and auto correct features off. Maybe you would be amused when, at the end, I switch my thesis and my conclusion, barely editing either, and take three tries to spell my name right but still manage to mangle the year.
I'd like to see the reviews, anyway, oekaki-style. Would you tell me about my great use of italics, tone, or word choice? Or that maybe I could improve the transitions between paragraphs in my future work? Would you talk about your immediate, visceral reaction?
